The 411 on Allan Mitchell's 1st day

What can I say but these last two days have been really trying on me. Other than the fact that the epidural seemed to do very little to help ease Melissa's pain, Allan arrived yesterday without a hitch and a healthy 7lbs 4oz. He looks like a very healthy boy. After a long day I took Elaine home and slept. Little did I know that today was going to be one of the most stressful days I've had in a really long time, probably since the day I thought we may have lost Elaine.

Melissa was told by the morning nurse that Allan had test positive for barbituates and anti-depressant drugs. Because of this they were calling Child and Protective Services. They also implied keeping Allan extra days to see if he withdrawals from the said drugs. Melissa has never been on any drugs except what she got at the hospital for labor. This is definately a rattling experience to have a child for less than a day and then to have to deal with the mere thought of losing a child. I know it was only a spiritual attack, but it still rattled me deeply.

Short ending till i get more sleep: We got the hospital advocate to retest Allan and to test Melissa for drugs and both tests came back negative. Still as a precaution they have to call CPS but only as a hypothetical but not report us.
