I spent Dec. 1 - Dec. 6, 2003 in Reynosa, Mexico for a mission trip for the church I attend (Shiloh Church - Flower Mound, TX). To see the desolation and the conditions from which people live in this area have forever changed me. From the short time I was there, I can see that God was truly at work in this area with everything he did. We stayed at Casa Hogar Corazon Grande, an orphanage run by an unbelievable strong Christian man named Gator. I find it hard to write down everything God did on this trip, and fear I may leave things out.
One of the first things we did in Mexico was hand out clothes in the colonia Primero Mayo (1st of May). It was then back to McAllen, TX to buy more supplies for the house we were to build in this colonia. On the way back from our first lumber run, we stopped at Sams Wholesale for several hundred lbs of rice and beans for the colonia and Corazon Grande. When we arrived back at Corazon Grande, we gave Gator about 150 lbs of rice and beans. He then said, "God has multiplied your blessing," and he then proceeded to give us 300 lbs of food a trucker friend of his dropped off a little while earlier. I experienced shock and awe that day (no offense president Bush).
